T AUMÁTROPO
A few days after officially closing the quarter and thus the course of creative methods to expose here a end of that work. As a self-portrait, a autofotorretrato is the representation of oneself in an image, whose main base is a picture, incorporating certain features (either by touch or by the same composition of the photo) that we consider private and that somehow we represent more or lesser extent. In short, to shape part of our being in a photograph then proceed to modify, if they wish.
When an object characteristic of the nineteenth century, a period with which I feel particularly connected, I figured it would be a good base to start the autofotorretrato. Moreover, the fact that it is an optical illusion, it also reflects my taste for the extraordinary and the supernatural, expressed in the simplest way possible. The two images below there are two sides that make up the thaumatrope. In one of them only see a silhouette completely black, opaque on a purple background (a color that I personally have always related to the imagination and fantasy), which highlights a somewhat minimalist self and the world, while the other image , delves deeper into the inner self and away from all adornment. also include the two masks that are completely antagonistic to each picture (comedy and tragedy) representing a shield my love for theater and interpretation.
Thus the two images, with all elements, are facets of me, make me give meaning to what I really am, so it is necessary that both act together and merge to form a single entity, but even I know for certain who I am and for some it may seem it's all wishful thinking.
